LGBTQ+ Disability Support Group Meeting

KCCI’s LGBTQ+ Disability Support Group meets virtually once a month on the second Fridays at 6:00 PM. (Occasionally, this date is swapped for another Friday.) This is a space for people to create connections, process some of the issues related to being both queer and disabled, and offer support to one another. Facilitators are volunteers from the community who are both queer and disabled.

A private Facebook group has also been formed, so folks can connect and seek support between meetings. Find it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1292060631285712#_=_

If you would like to attend, fill out the form to let us know how we can accommodate you. ASL will be provided upon request, and must be requested on the Wednesday before group. Filling out the form before each meeting gets you the Zoom link. https://tinyurl.com/kccidisabilitygroup

RAINBOW CLUB

Ages: K-5

Held by Pflag and KC Public Library:

The Kansas City Public Library is excited to host a program for children in grades K-5 who are LGBTQ+ or allies. This child-centered program offers a safe and supportive environment for kids to get to know each other, play games and participate in fun activities, read books, and hear from co-facilitators and special guests. We are always seeking to connect with families and gather input from community members who would be interested in getting involved.

Transgender and Gender Dysphoria Support Groups

Transitions for (trans)men  - meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6pm - 7pm

Transitions for (trans)women - meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6pm - 7pm

Beyond the Binary for gender nonconforming individuals (i.e nonbinary, genderfluid, agender, genderqueer) - meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 6pm - 7pm

These groups are for individuals who identify as transgender or are contemplating whether they are transgender. The groups are open to anyone regardless of where they are in the change process (from contemplation to post-surgery). The groups provide a confidential, safe, nonjudgmental, compassionate environment where individuals can discuss their experience and concerns with others who are in the same situation. We may occasionally have speakers who share their personal experience or provide information on community resources. The groups are small (max of 7 people) and currently meet in-person for COVID-19 vaccinated/boosted individuals only to ensure everyone's safety. If there is a COVID-19 surge, we wear masks or meet virtually. Group is $30 per session and the pre-group screening is $60.

If you are interested, please call me at 816-694-0200 or email me at colleenfaganphd@gmail.com to schedule a pre-group screening.
